I keep getting emails from something called "visual bookshelf." I don't have one of those, myself; I do, however, have an actual, physical bookshelf that is getting out of hand. Don't you think?

The Best Seat in the House

I'm spending all kinds of time & energy trying to get flowers to grow in our front yard - and one day I looked to see that this weed outside of our sideyard door had bloomed into beautiful pink flowers. Any idea what they are?

Meme: Passion Quilt

I've run into this a couple of times, and no one has tagged me yet, but I want to play, too! The idea is that we all find an image that illustrates our passion for education, post it and provide a caption. I think it's a great concept & wanted to share mine.

I call it JOY! and as I post it, I make a sincere wish for my niece and nephew (pictured with me), and kids around the world that they are able to carry their joy into and throughout their education. I am very concerned that in our current educational climate, too many children are losing the joy for learning that they felt before entering the early grades. They enter Kindergarten excited and happy to be finally going to school...but somehow by middle school, they've learned to dread it. My passion is to keep the joy in learning...to get away from the TEST being the center and back to the CHILD.
